Susie’s New Ears

Prize-winning short story published in Ironclad Creative Planted Anthology, 2025.

Grandma decided to knit some new ears for Susie and chose a wool from the pound shop with little silver sparkles. It was four pounds a ball, and she complained all the way down the high street. A pound shop should sell things for a pound; that’s what it says, that’s what it should do. But it was the only shop left in town selling any wool. The ears took the entire ball, even though Susie reminded Grandma she was only six and had very little ears. When the ears were ready, Susie swapped them for her old ones…

Project Tree

In this mind-bending contemporary fantasy with vibes of quiet horror, Matthew, a stressed-out researcher, discovers an enormous yew tree buried deep under his back lawn. Somehow he is sure he has seen it before. But things take a turn for the sinister when he starts seeing omens in his board games and soon after his family vanish without a trace. He is lured into a twisted living maze to find them, and finds himself in deadly battle of wits with an ancient Woodcutter trapped and intent on revenge. With the lives of those he loves poised on a knife-edge, Matthew must unlock the secrets of the Woodcutter’s past to survive. Doing so leads him to one terrifying, inescapable truth: he has done this all before.

Project Crow

A more blurby description to come but for now imagine strange parallel worlds, where two warring teenage girls find themselves walking the paths where the crows go. Let’s hope they took breadcrumbs…
